Jacqueline + Jack

Chapter Thirty-One

On tuesday we had a meeting with a professional set designer and lighting designer, we spoke to Jacqueline about what she could build for us and she said it should be ok. She will build us a brick wall and illegal storage space. We have arranged with Mr.Rawlings about hanging meat from the meat locker and he said he would be happy to provide this as long as we let him know the night before.

Jack helped us decide on our lighting. He has found a way to make the brick walls look very 3D and made the lighting darker and highlights the characters faces. We have looked at using dry ice to make the ice locker look very cold.

Cardboard Boxes and Props

Chapter Thirty

Yesterday we were looking for more props and how we would budget it. We have found some boxes we will buy and the rest of the set will be provided buy our higher team.

The animatic is in this BLOG, these are the questions we might ask them about it!

Animatics

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Kristina has finished our Animatic and it is cut to fit our music perfectly, hopefully it should help massively when editing our final music video. It gives a visual aid to the final product.

Our Shooting Date

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Our shooting date is now set as 24th November.
We have decided to shoot the poker game in the morning, set up in the studio.
We have been granted permission to shoot in the afternoon at Rawling's butchers, in their meat locker, and the band will be shot in the afternoon.

I am currently sending out emails to the actors and band to see if they are available for the shoot.
We are still searching for a brass section, MILES RUSSELL is a possible option.

Casting

Chapter Twenty-Seven

We have come to the stage where we will look at who is going to be in our music videos and how we will cast them. We will not audition our cast because we have already seen them work and know their background training. One of our actors is a trained actors from drama school, and the other has a background in media work. The band have musical experience and some are already members of a band.

Our first Actor is Adam Grant:

We looked for a similar looking actor as our second and we found actor James Hartman:

Our lead singer and hero Ted Jackson:

And Our Guitarist Dave Fonseka:

Naming the Band

Chapter Twenty-Five

I was asked to come up with a band name for the group. The BandNameMaker website is a good one because it gives you tips on what suits the band and there's even a generator which will do it for you.

Some suggestions were:

Mansion Highway
Previous Evil
Choice of Smoke
Up and Rising
The Cheated

These were all made using a generator.

Editing Animatics

Chapter Twenty-Four

Kristina is currently editing the 9 minutes we filmed on Friday. Kristina enjoys editing on Adobe pro because she finds it really interesting, we have put her in charge of the pre and post production editing. She also take music tech which allows her to hear the beats really well and make sure the piece is musically corresponding to the visual.

Storyboard

Chapter Twenty-Three

I have finished our storyboard and we have uploaded it to slide share so you can see it. We have a lot of slides and spent the day filming them for our animatic.

Make-Up and Special FX

Chapter Twenty-Three

We looked at frozen make up for our music video. Sasha Ward-Smith is a student who studies a lot of special FX make-up and we have discussed the possibilities of making someone look frozen.

There are a lot of videos on youtube showing tutorials in frozen make-up and making someone look iced up. We decided using someone with a beard really works because it adds effect.

Costumes

Chapter Twenty-Two

I looked at costume for our shoots. In the performance shoot we would like the band to wear suits and flat caps. It is very Peaky Blinder's esque.

All the characters are very hard looking, they are tough men and have a mafia illegal feel about them. The set is an illegal storehouse and very english.

Storyboarding

Chapter Twenty-One

Storyboarding is a big factor for creating a successful music video.

"A storyboard is a graphic organizer in the form of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation, motion graphic or interactive media sequence."

It creates a visual guide for when filming the shots for the video. It is a visual plan. Our story board is aimed to be between 80-120 shots long. We have two locations and these will be shown in every other storyboard shot. Switching between the two. Some sections will have several shots in the same location.

Change of Plan

Chapter Twenty

Being away for 7 days with flu and infections set my group back slightly. We decided it was time to change our idea. Instead of the poker idea we had the idea of filming in a meat freezer. The band will still sing live. We still plan to keep Ted as the singer because we think he is the only man who looks like he could sing the song.

As a group we are struggling to find a meat freezer, or one of good size. They are cold and hard to stay in for more than 15 minutes.

We might need to reconsider this again.
